The National Bank of Oman was established in 1973 as the Sultanate’s first local bank. Having built a rich history of innovative banking services that keep pace with the needs of its customers and contribute to the development of Oman’s banking industry.

In 2013, the bank also began to offer Sharia-compliant services through ‘Muzn’, the first Islamic banking window in Oman. Meanwhile, the bank also offers a rich choice of services for high-net-worth customers, Private Banking and Sadara Wealth Management, providing holistic solutions tailored towards their unique goals.

The bank is keen to expand its presence throughout the Sultanate of Oman and reach its customers in various regions. At present, it offers 207 ATMs and CDMs and a wide network of 60 branches, including two branches in the United Arab Emirates and 6 branches for Muzn.
Being an integral part of the national fabric, the bank is committed to developing and supporting the local community. Its comprehensive CSR strategy includes programs aimed at youth empowerment, social and economic development and education.
In recognition of its pioneering role in the banking sector and its commitment to digital innovation, NBO has received a string of awards. Most recently, it has been awarded Best Innovation in Corporate Banking and Fianace 2022 by MEA Finance Awards, Best Banking Technology 2022 by World Economic Magazine, Best Mobile App 2022 by World Businees Outlook and Straight Through Processing Excellence award by Citybank. Also the bank’s Chief Executive Officer, Mr Abdullah Al Hinai was ranked among the Most Powerful Omani CEO’s in Oman 2022 by Alam Al Iktissad Wal-Aamal Magazine. Recognising its CSR efforts, the bank has been award Best CSR Bank 2022 by World Business Magazine. Also in 2022, Muzn has been award Best Islamic Bank of the Year by the Banker Awards.
